NETBALL: The next generation of Toowoomba's netball stars will be in action this weekend.

Taking to the courts in Ipswich - Toowoomba will have five teams involved in the State Age Championships.

Toowoomba Netball Association president Brad Chapman said it was a great opportunity for junior players to test themselves against the best in the state.

"One of the things we are focused on here in Toowoomba is developing a good culture,” Chapman said.

"The focus is not entirely on winning. When we go to these type of competitions we want our players to enjoy themselves and learn something - obviously we want to win as well - but it's just as important that our players take something away from the experience that will help them in the future.

"It is the same with our coaches and umpires. We want them to be able to grow and learn new things from these events as well.

Toowoomba will send five teams and five umpires to the four-day event which starts tomorrow.
