Xmas Cup call for Fighting Teo next week

Toowoomba stayer eyes possible Sydney Christmas feature assignment.

RACING : Trainer Kevin Kemp will make a call early next week on a possible Sydney Christmas Cup run for Toowoomba gelding Fighting Teo.

The $140,000 Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) will be run at Randwick next Saturday.

Fighting Teo put himself in the picture for a possible cup start with an encouraging third in a Doomben Benchmark 90 Handicap (2000m) last Saturday.

“The Christmas Cup is an option and I’ll put a nomination in for him at both Randwick and Eagle Farm,” Kemp said.

“I wonder if he’d be ready for the 2400 metres after four runs back but the Eagle Farm race is 1800 metres which isn’t ideal either.

‘I have until Wednesday to travel him to Sydney so we’ll study the noms and make a call early next week.”

At Doomben tomorrow Toowoomba gelding Tycoon Ace chases back-to-back feature wins for trainers Tony and Maddy Sears when tackles the Listed Bribie Handicap (1050m).

Tycoon Ace resumed three weeks ago with a hard-finishing win in the Swiss Ace Plate (1000m) at Courbold Park.

Tycoon Ace’s Bribie opposition includes three fellow Toowoomba gallopers.

The five-year-old’s stablemate Piracy lines up with classy mare Spirit’s Choice from the Matt Kropp stable and Spurcraft who resumes for Charlotte White.

Toowoomba pair Niccanova and Prioritise will look for a return to winning form when they tackle the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) for trainer Steve Tregea.
