We reveal the stars of the under-16 boys’ Queensland Basketball State Championships

The next generation of Boomers, NBA and NBL stars were in action at the under-16 Queensland State Championships this week. From the elite scorers, to the lockdown defenders and underrated gems, see who starred from your club here.

Queensland’s top junior basketballers battled it out over the weekend in the quest for glory in this year’s under-16 boys’ state championships.

We have revealed the stars from each team, including the underrated guns, the lockdown defenders and the inspirational leaders.

Star players

Tyler Brown (Gold Coast Combers Division 6)

Brown was one of the most dominant offensive players of the tournament, averaging more than 30 points per game.

Odin Smith (Gold Coast Combers Division 6)

Smith produced rock-solid all-round performances as he brought stability and maturity to the team and made crucial offensive and defensive plays.

Lincoln Quinlan, Ed Tanks and Andrew Kavuala (Toowoomba Mountaineers Division 3)

The trio all improved on their regular season and were resilient as they led the team to a silver medal.

Darcy Keating, Zeke Drew and Leo Uren (Toowoomba Mountaineers Blue Division 6)

Whenever things went against them, these players stood up and would help shift the momentum of the game back in Toowoomba’s favour.

Jordan Kaesler (Logan Thunder Division 1)

Kaesler was immense on offence as he averaged more than 30 points per game and was also a weapon on defence as he made massive clutch plays.

Taylor Murray (Logan Thunder Division 1)

A bottom age player who made massive improvements as a two-way player all week.

Koby Fata (Logan Thunder Division 1)

Fata’s leadership and ability to get his teammates involved was a key to success for Logan.

Bryce Buchanan (Maryborough Magic Division 2)

Buchanan’s offensive work and effort as outstanding as he finished as the top scorer in Division 2.

Lachlan McNaughtan-Rava, Isaiah Gregas and Jet Ogabang (Logan Thunder White Division 5)

Louis Dougherty (Logan Thunder Maroon Division 4)

An athletic talent who continues to impress Thunder officials.

Nathan Lawrence (Logan Thunder Maroon Division 4)

Lawrence has gone from strength to strength this season as he continually improved and has shwon plenty fo promise for years to come.

Brock Gillman (Logan Thunder Maroon Division 4)

Gillman’s ability to step up when his team lost key players to injuries was admirable as he averaged 20 points per game which included a 31-point outing against Mackay Astros.

Luka Raven (Logan Thunder Gold Division 1)

A versatile talent who can make an impact anywhere on the court.

Ashton Abbott (Logan Thunder Gold Divion 1)

Abbott was a leader for the group with his calm and composed nature.

Hakeem Dikeni (Logan Thunder Gold Division 1)

Dikeni bounced back from a serious ankle injury just days before the state champs to play big minutes in every game throughout the week.

Kai Salam (Gold Coast Breakers Division 2)

An elite defender who disrupted oppoents and is a weapon on defence. He was one of the division’s leading three-point shooters and also had an enviable floater close to the rim.

Kayden Nuttall (Gold Coast Breakers Division 2)

The nimble guard makes buckets for fun and topped his division in three-point shots made.

Matthias Cameron (Gold Coast Breakers Division 2)

A strong all-round presence who is an elite playmaker, making countless assists and is a lethal scorer as well.

Luis Pears (Gold Coast Breakers Division 2)

The big shot blocker showed incredible athleticism close to the rim.

Sonny MacDonald (Gold Coast Breakers Division 2)

MacDonald was a force to be reckoned with as he coverd the court with ease.
