Prowling Tigers produce major upset

In what was one of the biggest A-grade upsets this season, Southern Suburbs claimed an impressive 32-22 win on the road to Dalby on Saturday.

With the reigning premiers hosting a side that went into the round in the bottom five of the ladder, the Diehards were expected to claim a victory with relative ease and continue their push towards the top two.

However, the Tigers had other ideas as they put in a complete 80-minute performance to pick up their third-straight win and move up to seventh on the ladder.

Danes still in the fight

With 11 rounds behind us, it would have been easy for many to predict the current top five to start running away from the rest of the chasing pack.

However, Pittsworth remains well and truly in the fight for finals and are back within striking distance after the Diehards’ loss to Souths.

The Danes’ thrilling win over Oakey meant they are now just one point behind the fifth-placed Diehards – who they will face this weekend.

This clash shapes as one of the biggest games of the season and while Dalby would be favourites, it is worth remembering that when those two sides met in round 1, the 2023 premiers needed two late tries to claim a 36-32 win.

Dalby has now won just two of its last six games, while the Danes have won three and drawn one of their last six.

Roosters ready to rule

After a stuttering start to the season, it is now safe to say that Valleys are well and truly back to their best.

The Roosters claimed an emphatic 48-16 win over Goondiwindi on Sunday and have now lost only one game since they lost to Wattles in round 3.

Valleys are now up to third on the ladder but will have plenty of work to do if they are to finish in the top two, with Gatton still two games clear of last year’s minor premiers.

Hawks soar in grand final rematch

While the Gatton women’s TRL dynasty looks set to be tested this year with Highfields and Valleys both fielding talented line-ups, the Hawks showed they are still one of the elite sides in the competition with a comprehensive win over Newtown.

Gatton dominated the grand final rematch from start to finish to claim a statement 42-14 win.
