Toowoomba name strong squad in bid to defend 47th Battalion title

Eager to defend their 2023 title Toowoomba Rugby League have named a strong 25-player 47th Battalion squad.

Warwick’s unbeaten start to the Hutchinson Builders A-grade season has been acknowledged with six Cowboys named in the initial squad.

Valleys and Gatton are also well represented with three players each.

While coach Col Speed will need to trim the squad to 19 players ahead of the July 13-14 tournament in Kingaroy the experienced mentor, who was named as the Queensland Country Men’s coach this week, is happy with his team.

“The is a good mixture of experienced players and form players,” Speed said.

“Combinations are very important in a gruelling tournament like the 47th Battalion.”
