Under-19s – Dalby 32 vs Southern Suburbs 18
5. Brock Sankey (Dalby)
The Dalby fullback was calm under the high ball and dangerous in attack. Whenever he made an attacking run, the Souths defence was on red alert as he always looked like creating something out of nothing.
4. Joseph Gillett (Dalby)
The Diehards enforcer formed a lethal partnership with Lyucian King-Togia and co-captain Harry Cooper in the forward pack as he made countless damaging runs and crunching tackles. Gillett also crossed over for a try to cap off a stellar premiership-winning performance.
3. Lyucian King-Togia (Dalby)
The brother of Dragons NRL young gun Lyhkan, King-Togia was in fine form on Saturday and a spearheaded the Diehards forward pack. With the ball, he made some barnstorming runs and also crossed over for a crucial try in the second half. In defence, he was workmanlike with countless tackles
2. Ronan Delaney (Souths)
At one stage, Delaney was staring down a potential best on ground medal after a superb performance. After a strong start from Dalby, Delaney led the Tigers’ charge and scored two electric tries off the back of some magical individual efforts. He helped draw the Tigers level with the Diehards early in the second half before the powerful Dalby line-up eventually ran away with the victory.
1. Joey Sankey (Dalby)
Sankey was a deserved player of the match after a scintillating performance. His playmaking was a class above as he set up attacking opportunities and was a threat every time he had the ball. Sankey also had a solid game from the kicking tee, nailing four of his six conversions.
Women’s – Highfields 20 vs Gatton 14
5. Sarah Hoger (Gatton)
Hoger continues to prove herself as a big-game player after a another elite grand final performance. The Hawks centre was almost unstoppable close to the tryline as she crossed over for two tries while also making a conversion.
4. Courtney Jackson (Highfields)
What a performance this was from the Eagles forward. Jackson made run after run and the Hawks defence barely had an answer for her in the middle. Her tireless performance in the forward pack mixed with her tricky runs helped lay down the foundations for the victory.
3. Morgan Prentice (Highfields)
The Highfields fullback was a class above in attack on Saturday as she spearheaded the Eagles attack. Every time she had the ball, you knew something was going to happen and she scored the game-changing try in the second half which put the Eagles in front for the first time.
2. Eliza Morcom (Highfields)
Morcom was everywhere for Highfields and was rewarded for her efforts with a best on ground medal. Whether it was making tackles, or charging at the Gatton defence, Morcom was a force to be reckoned with in the Eagles forward line.
1. Kim Dore (Gatton)
While she wasn’t able to lead her side to a historic fourth straight premiership, Dore was a standout performer for Gatton. The dominant forward made game-changing linebreaks on either side of the field, while setting up tryscorer opportunities for her teammates.
Reserve grade – Valleys 28 vs Warwick 20
5. Lance McGrady Dennison (Warwick)
McGrady Dennison was one of the main attacking outlets for the Cowboys with his creativity creating several opportunities for the minor premiers. He also chipped in with a try for good measure.
4. Jaren Bender (Valleys)
Bender continues to prove why he is one of the ultimate finals performers, with big time runs and impressive leadership. He dictated the tempo of the game and was always in the right place at the right time to make his mark.
3. Alifeleti Vite (Warwick)
Vite produced a vintage prop’s performance with rampaging runs and bone-rattling tackles. He gained countless metres for the Cowboys and also scored a late consolation try.
2. Uraia Koroi (Valleys)
Every time Koroi touched the ball, everyone inside Clive Berghofer Stadium held their breath in anticipation for what was coming. He was lightning in a bottle and his ability to put opposing defences on skates was second to none. His efforts were rewarded with a well-deserved try.
1. Harrison Burns (Valleys)
Coming up against a rampaging Warwick side, Burns single-handedly ensured his side would come away with back-to-back premierships. The dynamic halfback’s playmaking and general kicking game was a joy to behold. He set up teammates for tryscoring opportunities while crossing over for two four-pointers himself.
A-grade – Gatton 24 vs Valleys 20
5. Luke Self (Gatton)
It came as no surprise to see Self produce another vintage performance at fullback for the Hawks. The seasoned veteran is a known big-game performer and was at it again as he provided a cool, calm and collected head while also making some key runs when needed.
4. Cory McGrady (Valleys)
He was highlighted as one of the key players which could determine the outcome of the game in the lead-up to the contest and proved why he is one of the elite halves in the competition. McGrady was once again in the thick of the action as he had the ball on a string, setting up tries and creating opportunities for his teammates.
3. Harry Tombs (Valleys)
While he didn’t produce the same highlight plays the players ahead of him on this list produced, Tombs was one of the most consistent and reliable players across both sides. The towering prop made countless hit-ups for Valleys and drove the Roosters up the field with some huge runs.
2. Joel Hughes (Gatton)
Hughes was a deserved John “Cracker” McDonald Medallist after a sensational grand final performance. His kicking game was elite and he was involved in almost everything that went well for the Hawks. The versatile halfback was a perennial threat in attack and he crossed over for two tries.
1. Cameron Bundock and Travis Turnbull (Gatton)
These two players earn our top spots purely based off the final play of the game. With the Hawks 60m out from the tryline in golden point, time seemed to slow down for those at Clive Berghofer Stadium as Turnbull made a game-changing linebreak from dummy-half before passing it to Bundock who ran in to score the premiership-winning try. The young winger described the moments as one of the highlights of his career.
