We reveal our Toowoomba cricket A-grade one-day team of the season for 2024

The Toowoomba cricket one-day competition reached its finale on the weekend and we have run the rule over the competition to name our one-day team of the season. With players from all six clubs featuring, see who made our dream team here.

With the 2024 Toowoomba cricket one-day season now in the rearview mirror, we have run the rule across the entire competition to name our A-grade team of the season.

The team of the season includes five batters, an all-rounder, a wicketkeeper and four bowlers.

Take a look at who makes it into our dream team which features some of the best local cricketers in the Garden City.

1. Kris Glass (Northern Brothers)

Glass kicks off our team of the season as one of the two opening batters after another stellar run with the bat.

In six innings, the Northern Brothers gun scored 241 runs at an average of 48.2 and a top score of 110 not out.

2. Cooper Webster (Uni)

The University young gun could have made it in the team as a batter or all-rounder after a superb campaign.

With the bat, Webster scored 236 runs at an average of 47.2 with a top score of 113 not out.

As a bowler, he was just as impressive, chipping in with 10 wickets at 16.1.

3. Brian May (Wests)

May’s consistency was vital for the Warriors in their run to the A-grade finals as he scored 431 runs at an average of 86.2 throughout the home and away season.

He was dismissed in double figures just once and scored five half centuries in seven innings, with a top score of 98 not out.

4. Dean Fry (Met-Easts)

Fry comes in at second drop for our dream team after his impressive campaign where he scored 249 runs at 49.8 with a top score of 75 not out.

5. Matthew Hallas (Wests)

Hallas is the last specialist batter in this team and comes in at number five after his solid regular season where he scored 196 runs at 49 with a top score of 69.

6. Jake Tarling (Highfields)

The newest import to grace the Garden City, Tarling has been a standout performer for Highfields this season and takes the all-rounder spot in this team.

Tarling was solid with the bat, scoring 147 runs at 24.5 and impressed with the ball, taking eight wickets at 28.

7. Matthew Nunn (Wests)

Nunn earns his spot as the wicketkeeper for this team after another solid season with the gloves and the bat.

He made five dismissals and scored 108 runs with an average of 21.6.

8. Ryan Ward (Wests)

Ward has been a perennial threat with the ball in recent seasons and this year was no exception as he formed a lethal bowling partnership with Marcus Frizzell.

9. Deshaja Yukthi (Souths)

Yukthi spearheaded the Magpies bowling attack this season, with 13 wickets at an average of 16.15.

10. Marcus Frizzell (Wests)

Frizzell was as reliable as ever, taking 14 wickets with best figures of 4-28 coming against Highfields.

11. Matt Budden (Souths)

Budden takes the final spot in our dream team and was the leading wicket-taker throughout the regular season, claiming 14 scalps at an average of 13.
