While the Garden City was hit with a heavy downpour over the last fortnight, there were still players who stood tall with stellar performances in the latest round of Toowoomba cricket.
Round 3 of the two-day season and round 5 of the C grade Post-Christmas one-day competition saw some electric bowling spells and blistering knocks with the bat.
Check out our dream team which features five batters, an all-rounder, a wicketkeeper, four bowlers and a 12th man.
1. Sachin Premchandran (Souths Crows, C grade)
Premchandran is the first of the openers in this team and rightfully so, after he carried his bat to victory with a stellar 106 from 112 balls.
He was cool, calm and collected at the crease and remained unfazed whenever wickets fell at the other end as he guided his side to a strong first innings total of 8-249.
2. Wayne Hamlet (Northern Brothers Diggers Gold, C grade)
Hamlet opens the batting alongside Premchandran in this dream team after he scored an impressive 68 runs to provide a solid platform for his side to claim a four-wicket win with five overs to spare.
3. Dean Fry (Met-Easts, A grade)
Fry comes in at first drop after his sensational performance with the bat.
The Trojans star was a class above as he fell just shy of a coveted 150, dismissed for 147 from 199 balls.
4. Mohit Kalra (Souths Crows, C grade)
Kalra comes in at number four this week after a dominant display, scoring 72 runs and combining for a 151-run third-wicket partnership with fellow Crows star Premchandran.
Kalra also doubles as this week’s wicketkeeper after he took two catches to cap off a stunning performance.
5. Michael Lutvey (Souths Ravens, C grade)
The Souths flavour in this week’s dream team continues with Lutvey taking the number five spot in the team after his stellar captain’s knock.
Northern Brothers bowlers had no answer for the Ravens captain as he scored an unbeaten 72 from 64 balls, and smashed 11 boundaries, including seven maximums.
6. Naser Naser (Northern Brothers Diggers Gold, C grade)
Naser takes the final specialist batter’s spot in the team after scoring a run-a-ball 56.
7. Tim Bowly (Wests, C grade)
Bowly brings explosiveness in the middle order for the dream side and is also this week’s all-rounder.
He had ice in his veins as he scored a blistering 109 runs from 98 balls to help Wests to a victory in the final over.
His counterpunch style helped take the pressure off his side after the Warriors were on the back foot at 4-35 at one point, before flipping the script to chase down the 205 runs required with five balls to spare.
With the ball, Bowly was in fine form, taking 2-27 from eight overs.
8. Kyrna Crump (Northern Brothers Diggers Gold, C grade)
Crump is the first of the bowlers in this dream team, after taking 4-24 off eight overs.
9. Brendan Harding (Souths Magpies, C grade)
Harding is the second bowler in the team after his devastating spell where he took 4-11 off just six overs.
10. Andrew Luck (Souths Magpies, C grade)
The second half of the Magpies dynamic duo, Luck was one of the first names in this week’s team after he left Northern Brothers Diggers Blue shell-shocked, taking 4-6 from six overs in a ruthless spell of bowling.
11. Cameron Fuhlbohm (Souths Crows, C grade)
Fuhlbohm is the final bowler in the dream team after he took three scalps from six overs and conceded just 17 runs at 2.83 per over.
12th man. Hemal Shah (University, Reserve grade)
Shah is the unlucky player to miss out on a place in the team this week after he impressed with the bat and ball.
The University all-rounder took 3-36 in the first innings and then showed promising signs with the bat as he made his way to an unbeaten 21 off 43 balls in the second innings before rain abandoned the rest of the clash.
