The Toowoomba Warriors Reconciliation Carnival is set to take place this weekend at Jack Martin Centre with some star players set to take to the field.
The knockout carnivals will get underway on Friday with six teams competing in the women’s 9s competition.
Then, 18 men’s teams take to the field on Saturday with action kicking off at 8.30am and running through to 6pm in what is set to be an action-packed day of rugby league.
With hundreds of star players converging on Toowoomba this weekend, we have highlighted some of the key players to watch this weekend.
Ash Taylor
The former Gold Coast Titans superstar returned to the Garden City last year after his retirement from NRL and is set to take the knockout by storm.
Taylor is a halfback who is calm in attack and is a natural leader on the field and will be looking to put in a solid performance in the lead up to the TRL season, where he is captain-coach of Brothers.
Chris Woodbridge
Woodbridge is lightning in a bottle and can single-handedly win a game off his own back.
The Dalby fullback had one of the greatest individual TRL seasons of all time as he scored an amazing 46 tries and 416 points to take home the 2023 Webcke-Price Medal and led the Diehards to the A-grade premiership.
Cory McGrady
McGrady is another player who is a walking highlight reel and can conjure up something out of nothing.
The exciting half has wreaked havoc in the TRL and is one of the most talented players to have competed in the competition.
He was also a vital player for the Western Clydesdales in their inaugural season last year making 19 appearances in the Hostplus Cup.
Tony Clevin
Clevin is a dangerous all-round fullback whose kicking game perfectly compliments his running game.
He is capable of crossing over to score tries, while also pressuring opposing defences with his delicate kicking game.
Rosie Gibbs
Gibbs is a natural leader on the field and possesses an incredible kicking game.
Along with possessing one of the best kicking games in the women’s TRL competition, she is very strong and can make key plays in defence.
Emily Young
Young is talented halfback who previously played for South Sydney in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.
She is a big game player and helped lead Gatton to the TRL premiership last year.
Lorna Murray
Murray is a skilful back with the ability to find her way past opposing defences.
She is an exciting player in attack and has a knack of finding the tryline out on the wing.
