The inaugural round of the women’s TCI T20 cricket competition is in the books and we are shining a light on the players who stepped up at the crease.

From the dominant efforts from the Highfields and Districts Railway Bulldogs, who claimed a statement win over Northern Brothers Diggers, to the nerves of steel from the Souths Magpies team who claimed a 10-run win over Wests, see which players were a cut above the rest in round 1.

5. Alice Rigby (Souths)

Rigby kicks off this week’s top five after a solid effort with bat and ball.

With the bat, she scored 15 runs at the top of the order to kickstart the Souths innings.

With the ball, Rigby took 1-14 off three overs.

4. Melissa Lyell (Souths)

Rigby is joined by Souths teammate Melissa Lyell in our top five after her strong performance against Wests.

Lyell scored an unbeaten 20 runs before also chipping in with the ball as she ended with figures of 1-8 from three overs.

3. Margie Hamlet (Northern Brothers)

Hamlet showed her class with the bat as she scored 30 runs from 26 balls to lead the Northern Brothers fightback which took them from 4-49 to 5-109 at the end of the 20 overs.

2. Jorja Caldwell (Highfields)

After Highfields lost a pair of early wickets, Caldwell steadied the ship with a solid 31 runs from 25 balls to take back the ascendancy.

Earlier in the game, she showed her class with the ball, conceding just eight runs from three overs at an economy rate of 2.66.

1. Ruby Sipple (Highfields)

Sipple takes the top spot in this week’s list after she scored an unbeaten 33 runs from 22 balls at a strike rate of 150.

Her stellar stint included eight boundaries as she guided the Bulldogs to victory with 49 balls to spare.

If her efforts with the bat weren’t enough, she also took 1-17 in the first innings.
