With the 2024 Toowoomba women’s T20 cricket season now in the rearview mirror, we are shining a light on the players who went above and beyond for their team with our team of the season.
With players from Highfields and Districts Railway, Southern District, Western Districts and Northern Brothers Diggers, see which stars from your club made our inaugural women’s team of the season.
1. Justine Bateman (Highfields)
Bateman was the Bulldogs’ leading run-scorer this season with 57 runs at an average of 57 and a top score of 30, which came against Souths.
2. Melissa Lyell (Souths)
Lyell was a reliable contributor with the bat throughout the season for the Magpies as she scored 56 runs with a top score of 22 and was dismissed just once in her four innings.
To top it all off, she chipped in with two wickets as well.
3. Kylie Carson (Souths)
Carson is another game-changing batter who boasts an impressive batting average of 40.
Her class was clear to see when she scored an impressive 30 runs from 25 balls against Northern Brothers Diggers.
4. Rhiannon Beer (Wests)
Beer produced the performance of the season when she scored an unbeaten 86 runs from 51 balls in a stellar inning which included 16 fours and one six.
It was a superb all-round displays she also picked up a wicket in the same game.
The Warriors star ended the campaign with two wickets and a competition-high 88 runs.
5. Margie Hamlet (NBD)
Hamlet was a key all-round contributor for the Dragons, scoring 54 runs and taking two wickets.
6. Kayleen Beer (Wests)
Beer made her presence felt almost every time she stepped onto the field and opposing bowlers could not dismiss her once throughout the year as she scored a combined 46 runs from her four innings.
With the ball, she was just as impressive, taking three wickets at an average of just 15.
7. April Lancaster-Smith (Souths)
Lancaster-Smith was one of the breakout stars of the women’s competition as she made her mark with bat and ball.
She took four wickets at a stunning average of just 5.5 and scored 54 runs at an average of 54.
8. Ingrid Nichols (Wests)
Nichols was a class above for the Warriors, averaging 21.5 with the bat and taking three wickets at 9.33.
9. Alice Rigby (Souths)
Rigby was another pivotal member of the Magpies’ premiership-winning squad as she scored 37 runs at an average of 12.33 and was a menace with the ball, taking four wickets at an average of just eight.
10. Harpinder Kaur (Souths)
Saved her best for last, Kaur was the game-changer in the grand final as she took 3-14 to tear through the Wests batting order to help the Magpies to the historic win.
11. Belinda Sipple (Highfields)
Sipple takes the final spot in our team of the year after she claimed three wickets at an average of 15.33.
