TRL STARS: We rank the Top 10 performers from Round 6

The Chronicle names its top 10 performances from the weekend’s A-grade, reserve, under-19 and women TRL competitions. Find out who earns top spot.

After a massive weekend of upsets that saw A-grade title contenders Dalby and Warwick suffer losses, the round was full of great performances from both teams and individuals.

With round 6 of the TRL competition wrapped up The Chronicle Sport Team have run the rule over every senior men’s and women’s game to highlight our Top 10 performances.

TOP PERFORMERS

10.Thomas O’Sullivan (Pittsworth A-grade): Coming in clutch with the boot, O’Sullivan kicked three of four from the spot plus one penalty goal, which proved to be the winning points as the Danes upset Dalby 24-22.

9. Brandon Kerr (Souths Reserve): In a tightly contested game and going down by just two points to Warwick, the Tigers centre scored 10 of his team’s 22 total points, with one try and three from the tee.

8. Jordan Henry (Wattles Reserve): A solid performance from the spot, the second-rower and captain kicked six of nine in his side’s victory.

7. Cory Haywood (Highfields A-grade): Kicking six of eight from the tee, the Eagles five-eighth had an accurate game with the boot.

6. Khloe Charles (Newtown Women): The winger had her kicking boots on at the weekend, slotting seven conversions for the Lions, tallying 14 of the side’s total points.

5. Antonia Vito (Oakey Women): Scoring a hat-trick, two coming in the first and the third in the second, she scored three of the Bears’ 10 tries in their 48-4 victory over Valleys Roosters.

4. Joshua Henry (Wattles Reserve): Contributing three of the side’s nine tries, the side’s five-eighth was a key player in their 48-6 thumping of Goondiwindi.

3. Aiden Suhan (Wattles Under-19): The young centre had a day out against the Boars, scoring a hat-trick in the opening 25 minutes and furthering his try scoring tally to four with a late try in the 66th minute.

2. Aleah Peckham (Newtown Women): The Lions halfback crossed the line four times and kicked one conversion, scoring 17 points in their 72-0 thrashing of Highfields.

1. Southern Suburbs (Tigers A-grade): Claiming the upset of the round, the Tigers pulled off a remarkable 32-8 win over the Warwick Cowboys who were unbeaten through the first five rounds. The Tigers had six different try scorers, and only conceded two tries from the potent Cowboys attack. The Tigers have now catapulted themselves into the top four on the ladder, with four wins and two losses.

TOP PERFORMERS

10. Katelyn Anderson (Newtown): Anderson added two four-pointers to her tally in the Lions 50-0 win over Southern Suburbs.

9. Faatup Lisati (Gatton Reserve): With his side trailing 10-0, Lisati scored a quick fire double to drag his team back into the contest. Gatton secured a 24-16 win over Wattles.

8. Chontelle Orcher (Valleys Women): The Roosters prop scored twice in her side’s 20-14 win against Highfields Eagles.

7. Trae Bennetto (Goondiwindi A-grade): The fullback was key man in the Boars’ electric start against Oakey. Bennetto scored two tries as his side raced out to a 26-0 halftime lead.

6. Jaren Bender (Valleys Reserve): The halfback was ‘bending them home’ from everywhere kicking six conversions and scoring a try in his team’s 48-12 win.

5. Alex Hinch (Valleys A-grade): The Roosters winger scored three tries in his side’s comfortable 52-6 win over Highfields Eagles.

4. Aiden Suhan (Wattles Under-19): After opening the scoring in the 5th minute Suhan went on to secure a hat-trick in his side’s 30-10 win. The centre scored nearly half his side’s points with three tries and a conversion.

3. Brady Dodd (Oakey Under-19s): The young halfback did everything he possibly could to secure a win for the Bears. Dodd scored 18 (3 tries, 3 conversions) of his side’s 26 points in their 34-26 loss to Goondiwindi.

2. Brenton Clement (Pittsworth A-grade): The Danes fullback more than doubled his try scoring tally with a dazzling display at the weekend. Clement saw plenty of good ball, scoring five tries in his side’s 46-16 win over Brothers.

1. Nick Carrie (Warwick A-grade): Carrie was the man of the match in the A-grade match of the round. The Cowboys five-eighth was outstanding throughout the match. With his team trailing 22-12 Carrie pulled off a try saving tackle just inches from the line and swung momentum in his side’s favour. Carrie also scored a try, booted home four conversions and kicked a crucial field goal which put his side in front late in the game.

ROUND 4

TOP PERFORMERS

10. Chris Woodbridge (Dalby A-grade): The Diehards fullback, who leads all point scorers with 87, kicked six conversions at the weekend.

9. Sam Betros (Valleys A-grade): The crafty half hasn’t missed a beat since joining the Roosters in the off-season. Betros scored a try and kicked three conversions in his side’s 68-6 demolition of Newtown Lions.

8. Brendan Saltner (Valleys Reserves): The Roosters fullback scored a try and kicked four conversions in Valleys 36-6 defeat of Newtown.

7. Brianna Pogany (Dalby Women): The lock scored a double and kicked a conversion in her side’s 32-10 win over Southern Suburbs.

6. Nicholas Donghi (Warwick A-grade): Starting on the bench, Donghi scored two tries in the Cowboys 38-0 win over Brothers.

5. Sarah Hoger (Gatton Women): Teammate Natalia Webb scored a double, but Hoger gets the ‘win’ here due to her kicking game against Oakey. Both sides scored four tries apiece with Hoger crossing the line in the 22nd minute. Hoger was the difference, kicking two from of three conversions to seal a 20-18 win.

4. Matthew Henry (Warwick Reserves): The Cowboys ran roughshod over Brothers scoring 15 tries. The 86-0 rout gave Henry plenty of opportunity to hone his skills of the kicking tee with the fullback booting home 12 conversions.

3. Austin Jennings (Wattles A-grade): The Warriors centre was at his attacking best against Pittsworth. Jennings capitalised on the great work of his teammates inside to score three tries.

2. Matthew Brewer (Dalby under-19s): Brewer had a day to remember against Southern Suburbs scoring four tries and kicking two conversions in his side’s 72-0 win.

1. Reilly Land (Highfields Reserves): The talented halfback was the key man in his side’s nailbiting 40-34 win over Goondiwindi. Land scored nearly half of the Eagles’ points with two tries and six conversions for a total of 18 points.
