Will Brown holds pole position in the race to the V8 Supercars Championship and has no intention of giving it up.
With the second half of the championship resuming this weekend, Brown holds a narrow 7-point lead over Erebus Motorsport Brodie Kostecki.
“It’s pretty amazing to be leading the championship at the halfway point of the season,” Brown said.
“If you had told me at the start of the year that I would be in this position there is no way I would’ve believed you.
“It’s only the halfway point though, we still have plenty of racing to do yet.”
Brown’s rise to the top of the podium comes after a difficult 2022 – his second season as full-time as a full-time driver.
The 25-year-old went winless last season, with a podium at Sandown the only highlight.
With every team running the Gen3 cars this season and the new Gen3 ruleset – the field has evened out according to Brown with a greater opportunity for drivers to prove themselves.
Brown however was quick to acknowledge the huge role his team has played in his success to date.
“I can’t thank my team enough for all the work they’ve done,” he said.
“With everyone running the Gen3 cars the focus is really on the drivers and the engineers now.
“We have a fantastic team of engineers and other crew and they’re all doing an excellent job.
“They’re a key part of mine and Brodie (Kostecki) success.
“I don’t we’ve got the best out this car just yet, we’re pretty close, but we’re going to keep working hard until we’re the best we possibly can be.”
Brown will be back behind the wheel this Friday, July 28 for the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.
