Toowoomba’s Jed Hockin lands ambassador role with powerhouse Puma

Toowoomba’s Jed Hockin has amassed an enormous social media following, which has resulted in a new deal with Puma.

TOOWOOMBA’S Jed Hockin has developed a huge social media following in recent years with his jaw-dropping trick shots.

Now the success of the year 20-year-old has seen him land an ambassador role with worldwide sporting powerhouse Puma.

It’s still something Hockin has to pinch himself with every day, as he continues to grow his following.

“Last year I did a bit of work with Puma,” Hockin said.

“The deal came about in terms of social media numbers, content, tricks, skills and that sort of thing.

“I didn’t really have words to describe when I found out. They’ve got some massive athletes signed like LaMelo Ball and Neymar Jr who are two of the biggest athletes in their own sport.

“I’m just a young fella from Toowoomba, so it’s pretty crazy.”

Hockin’s reach has extended to collaborations with NRL superstar Jason Taumalolo, as well as being shared by Spanish football giants Real Madrid.

COVID had an impact on joint ventures last year, but Hockin is hoping things can change in 2021.

“It’s been a bit of a hassle with all the COVID stuff, but I’ve been in talks for a couple of collaborations with athletes,” he said.

“They might turn out, but with all the restrictions you just have to wait and see.

“I’m working on a new Guinness World Record. I’ve got four at the moment, so hopefully I can get it in the coming months.”

While the past year put paid to a couple of plans, it did allow for Hockin’s social media popularity to skyrocket on a new platform, amassing over 300k followers on TikTok.

It’s part of his push to reach a milestone of 1m followers across all platforms, something firmly in his sights.

“With TikTok, everyone was talking about it and it was getting really popular,” he said.

“You have to be where the attention is and can’t miss a beat.

“I’ve only had it for about seven or eight months but have been verified and have over 300,000 followers.
“I’m super happy with how the progress is going, but I know there’s a lot more potential to fill. I’m hoping for a combined following of over 1m.”
