HOCKEY : Four Toowoomba players have been selected in 2020 Australian indoor hockey teams and squads.
Toowoomba Funnel Web player Holly Gilbar has gained selection in the open women’s training squad while Benjamin Edwards, Ella White and Dylan Pember have also won national call-ups.
Edwards is an under-21 men’s team selection; White has won an under-18 women’s training squad call-up and Pember has been named in the men’s under-18 team.
The Australian teams and squads were named at the conclusion of this month’s Australian Indoor Championships in Wollongong.
More than 100 teams contested the tournament across under-13, under-15, under 18, under-21 and open divisions.
Gilbar is an Australian country outdoor hockey representative and is now aiming to win her way through to open honours in the indoor arena.
“The Australian squad will attend an intensive training camp in August where the final team will be selected,” the strike said.
“It would be a great honour to be chosen in the final team to compete in Europe.”
