RUBGY UNION: Toowoomba Grammar School will tackle their GPS season opener with passion and confidence.
Riding the emotional high of resounding 50-16 O'Callaghan Cup win over Downlands, Grammar will play host to their Ipswich counterparts today.
Minor injuries have forced a few changes in the team but First XV head coach David Efantie is backing his side.
"The boys go into the game on a bit of high after our cup win,” he said.
"We picked up a few minor injuries so we've made a few changes but the team is settled.
"We had a very extensive pre-season so we are ready for this game.
"We're looking forward to taking on some of their bigger boys.”
It is that preparation that gives Efantie confidence.
"We're very fortunate to have a strong coaching here,” he said.
"Not just our top coaches but all the staff - it's a strength for us.”
Eftanie also believes his side poses an attacking threat that will test the resolve of their opponents.
"I think we have plenty of points in us,” Efantie said.
"We've got some key attackers in our back-line and a number of good ball carriers in the forwards.
"Controlling the scrum and line-outs will be important against.
"If we can dominant there it'll help us win.”
