Toowoomba Cricket: The Chronicle ranks the top TCI players so far this season from A, Reserve, B, C and D-grade games

With piles of runs and bags of wickets from the second round of matches, The Chronicle’s sport team picks their 1st XI side from the TCI grade cricket competition. Read who made the cut here.

CRICKET: After the first two games of the 2023 summer, two-day season, we take a look at the top performing mens players in TCI grade cricket.

This list will be updated at the end of each game, and will not be finalised until season’s end.

In no particular order, other than each player’s speciality, here are the 1st XI so far:

Batters

Chris Smythe

The only player in the TCI comp so far who has reached a double ton, Smythe is in the form of his life. Playing in Souths B-grade side, he has a total of 202 runs.

Wayne Hamlet

Still at the top of his game, Hamlet is the top scorer thus far across TCI’s grade cricket.

Playing for NBD in their C-grade side, Hamlet has posted 269 runs at an average of 134.5.

Andrew Catlow

Padding up for Uni’s C-grade side, Catlow has started the season off in great nick. At an average of 75.00, Catlow has accrued 150 runs in the two games this season.

Anthony Guse

NBD C-grader, Guse already has a 150 under his belt. With a total of 187 runs, he has an outlandish 93.50 average after the first two matches.

David Callick

Another player boasting an impressive average early in the season is Callick. At 65.00, he has scored 130 runs for Souths Reserve-grade side.

All Rounders

Adam Kerrigan

Playing for Easts’ B-grade side, Kerrigan has been in prolific for with both bat and ball in hand. Kerrigan has notched up 156 runs already with an average of 78.00. He has also take eight wickets at an average of 3.88.

Mark Alexander

An all-rounder any side would relish, Alexander is in a purple patch. Having 103 runs to his name after his ton, he has also taken 10 polls at a meagre 4.40 average.

Wicketkeeper

Matthew Nunn

While he has not had the best form of late with the bat, his form behind the stumps has been exceptional. Playing for Wests’ A-grade side he has taken seven catches and had one stumping in the two games.

Bowlers

Regan Liebke

Playing for NBD’s A-grade side, Liebke has been one of the in form bowlers of the comp. In only two games he has taken 10 wickets at an average of 8.30.

Sam Titterton

Having been called up from Wests Reserve-grade side into their A-grade team, Titterton has had a solid two games. Taking 11 wickets in total, at an average of 3.36.

Robert Phillips

Probably the most in form player in the comp, Phillips has taken the most wickets out of any player thus far. In Uni’s C-grade side, Phillips has taken 17 wickets at an average of 4.18.
