FOOTBALL: Things haven't been easy for the South West Queensland Thunder women this season.
But despite the trials and tribulations, captain Mel Lloyd believes in her team and she likes what she's seen.
"I think our attitude has been great this season,” she said. "It's something we've worked really hard on. At the start of the season if they made a mistake some of the girls would drop their heads but that has changed.
"Now we focus on what we can do better. It might be making the next five minutes better or the next half - we're a lot more positive.
"No one is dropping their heads any more.”
That positive attitude could be vital in the Thunder's clash against the Brisbane Roar at Clive Berghofer Stadium today.
"We're not under any illusions, we know it's going to be a tough game. They're a good side,” Lloyd said.
"But that could work in our favour. The girls really seem to lift when we know we're up against a good side.
"We certainly don't go into a game thinking 'we're going to lose this one'. It's always positive.”
The Thunder go into the game on the back of a 5-0 defeat to Mudgeeraba last round.
"I don't think the score-line was a true reflection of the game,” Lloyd said. "I thought we were very competitive. They (Mudgeeraba) were pretty determined though after a 14-2 loss the week before.
"I think things will be a lot different the next time we face them.”
The South West Queensland Thunder men and women's senior sides both play at Clive Berghofer Stadium on Saturday April 28.
Women's game: 2.30pm kick-off versus Brisbane Roar. Men's game: 5pm kick-off versus Gold Coast.
