Sky Racing has set a new digital record for Melbourne Cup coverage with more than 1.5 million viewers tuning into the big race via the TAB app, an increase of 23 per cent on last year.
Apart from the massive numbers recorded on the TAB app Sky Racing 1 on Foxtel grew its audience by 27 per cent on the day.
“We had a real focus on enhancing how we present the Melbourne Cup this year and to see this sort of outstanding growth in both television and digital platforms is fantastic in such a competitive market,” Darren Pearce, Tabcorp executive general manager media & international said.
“That 27 per cent increase on Sky 1 represents an additional 56,000 viewers.”
“Clearly having Nick Quinn trackside for live pre-race crosses on Sky Racing 1, the addition of the Brains Trust, which gives the last word from respected form analysts David Gately and Deane Lester, along with our many other enhancements have connected with viewers.”
For the 2020 spring Sky Racing has been back on-track for live crosses over the four days of Melbourne Cup week through its partnership with the VRC.
The increased figures so far for the VRC Spring Carnival follow on from impressive viewership numbers on The Everest Day on October 17, which saw a 15 per cent increase overall across Sky viewership.
