RACING: Crack Downs’ sprinter Spurcraft will continue on an exciting summer feature path after returning to race with a sizzling performance at Doomben yesterday.
Spurcraft kick started a good day for Toowoomba gallopers with an all-the-way performance for jockey Les Tilley in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1050m).
The win was Spurcraft’s ninth from 14 starts and his first since undergoing throat surgery.
Trainer Charlotte White told the Sunday Mail’s Nathan Exelby Spurcraft’s summer targets include the Magic Millions Snippets at the Gold Coast on January 11.
The six-year-old’s next planned start is The Falvelon Quality (1200m) at Eagle Farm in a fortnight.
“We will go to the Falvelon now and try to get him into the Magic Millions,” White said.
Toowoomba six-year-old Niccanova scored his latest Listed victory for trainer Steve Tregea with a return to winning form in yesterday’s BrisbaneQuality Handicap (1600m).
# THE day finished on a sour note for Tilley who was suspended on a careless riding charge aboard Romakash in the Benchmark 75 Handicap.
# TOOWOOMBA apprentice Nick Keal received a one-month improper riding suspension after pleading guilty to an improper riding charge on Advance Warning in the Benchmark 75.
The infringement involving Romakash and Tilley occurred as the horses were pulling up after the race finish.
Romakash was severely checked in the incident.
