SPEEDWAY : Toowoomba’s Andrew Scheuerle ended his reign as Australian Sprintcar champion on a sombre note after crashing out of this year’s title race.

Scheuerle’s championship defence finished in a feature crash at Tasmania’s Latrobe Speedway on Saturday night while mounting a spirited defence of his 2019 crown.

Scheuerle came to grief on lap three after the steering on rival David Mercott’s car is believed to have broken, spearing him into Scheuerle and causing both cars to flip.

Scheuerle is undecided on whether he will race this week at Murray Bridge in South Australia

This year’s sprintcar championship was won by Jamie Veal.

# RACING returns to Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway on Saturday night when the Street Stocks Mountaineers Cup meeting will include the Queensland V8 Dirt Modifies championship.

Production Sedans, AMCA Nationals, Compact Speedcars and RSA Sedans also feature.
