FOOTBALL: If Rockville claims the premiership, the women's team will know they did it their way.
Finishing second behind minor premiers Willowburn, Rockville stood united in the absence of an official coach, according to team captain Mia Hofmann-Young.
"We're happy with how we went this season,” Hofmann-Young said.
"We played well and we came together as a team on and off the field.
"It made us look at the whole picture, all the girls bought their own ideas to the team and some of the players from the men's teams offered their help as well.”
Rockville faces Gatton Redbacks on Sunday after losing to 3-0 to Willowburn in last weekend's major semi-final.
Hofmann-Young said a change of tactic and formation proved costly in the match, with three goals in the first half.
"We decided to try something different and it didn't work,” Hofmann-Young said.
"In the second half we went back to our old formation and played a lot better.”
Facing Gatton on their home turf, Hofmann-Young said her side needed to be positive and play as a unit.
"We go into every game confident we can win,” she said.
"But you can't afford to be cocky, you have to respect your opponent and we do.
"We've played well against them in the past but they have tested us.
"We need to think positively, support each other and play well as a team if we want to win.”
As for her role in the side Hofmann-Young said the flow of the game would decide where she lined up.
"I play up front or in defence,” she said.
"I just go where I think the team needs me most.
"If we need some fresh legs up front to get a goal then I'll drop back.
"I don't mind playing at the back because I think you get a better view of how the team is going.”
GAME DAY: Rockville plays Gatton at Lee Dixon Oval tomorrow. Kick-off is 11am.
