Three days of road racing action in Queensland’s motorsport capital will bring thousands to the region and boost the economy.

Rd 4 of the Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship will take place at Morgan Park Raceway in July, bringing some of the nation’s top racers as well as thousands of spectators from the state.

Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said ASBK competitors and fans have always loved coming to Morgan Park.

“We are delighted to be returning to Morgan Park Raceway in 2024, on a circuit which has always been one of the most exciting on the ASBK calendar for producing highly entertaining battles, from the premier Superbike class right through to the stars of tomorrow in the Oceania Junior Cup,” Mr Doyle said.

“And with the recent on- and off-track upgrades, Morgan Park Raceway has further cemented itself as a staple on the ASBK calendar.”

“It’s going to be another superb round of ASBK action from July 12-14, and I’d like to thank Southern Downs Regional Council for its massive support.”

Southern Downs Mayor Melissa Hamilton emphasised the positive impact of hosting the Championship on the region’s economy and tourism sector.

“The Australian Superbike Championship is a premier event on the racing calendar, and its popular following is set to attract thousands of visitors to our region,” Mayor Hamilton said.

“Warwick’s status as the Horsepower Capital of Australia will be front and centre stage during the Championship, reinforcing our region’s reputation as a top destination for major sporting events,” she said.

“The influx of race fans from across the country will provide a significant boost to our local businesses and tourism, benefiting the entire community.”

Round 4 of the Championship will feature the Superbike, Supersport, Supersport 300, R3 Cup and Oceania Junior Cup classes across three-action-packed days of practice, qualifying and racing, there will also be plenty to do off the track too.

“Hosting an event of this magnitude not only showcases our beautiful region and country hospitality but also paves the way for future tourism opportunities,” Ms Hamilton said.

The event comes following the recent $1.9m upgrade to the raceway which extended the drag strip, upgraded concrete crash barriers, sealing return road, staging area, new timing equipment, lighting and added an additional raised viewing area.
