BASEBALL : Toowoomba Rangers rebounded from a round-two defeat in perfect style with a return to the GBL Division 4 winner’s list on Sunday.
Rangers hit back from a lack-lustre performance against Wests Bulldogs to hand Pine Hills Lightning a 9-1 thumping in their round-three road encounter.
The win leaves Rangers with two wins and one loss from their opening three games heading into a round-four bye this weekend.
Rangers’ winning performance was built around a strong shared pitching effort and a positive attitude with the bat.
“We played with a bit better attitude this week and that really showed in our performance,” Rangers’ coach Luke Ardill said.
“We left loaded bases in the first innings but we gradually began opening up.
‘Our pitching was also very pleasing.
“Cody Luchterhand started for us and held them to just one run.
“Lawrence Taylor then came on for one inning and a bit before Sam McNeice finished for us.
“The win gives us some nice momentum going into this weekend’s break when the A-grade team will go along to watch B grade play Windsor at home.”
