SPEEDWAY : Reigning Australian and Queensland champion Matt Pascoe will be eager to begin his new racing season on a quick note at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway tomorrow night.

Pascoe is one of 22 entries for round one of the Super Sedan Series which features on the Schultz Sedan Spectacular program.

The Ipswich driver swept all before him last season with a Queensland series win adding to his two major title victories.

After several months spent during the off season building chassis and fine tuning his car, Pascoe is looking forward to taking up where he left off earlier this year.

“We haven’t raced for three or four months and I’ve spent a lot of that time building Sweet chassis,” Pascoe said.

“I’ve built seven new cars and four of those will be racing on Saturday night.

“We’ll be racing the same car and I’ll be looking for a good start on Saturday night.

“At the end of last season we found some good set-ups and I’m confident we can do well again this year.

“But everyone else will have done some home work and it’s sure to be another tough year.

“I’d say out of the 22 entries on Saturday night there is probably around 10 cars that can win so we’ll need to be ready to go.

“With names like Mick Nicola from Victoria, Trent Wilson, Darren Kane and Sean Black down to start it’s sure to be competitive.

“All these guys travel to do the Australian series.”

Tomorrow night’s racing also includes the opening round of the Wingless Sprint Series, Modifieds, Productions, Midgets, Lightning Sprints and Juniors.

The Speedcar field is headed by Queensland’s Brock Dean.

The main racing begins at 6pm.
