Paris Olympics 24: Cody Simpson hits the Moulin Rouge and impresses an Aussie dancer

Aussie singer Cody Simpson has visited the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris with friends and impressed an Aussie dancer starring in the troupe.

Cody Simpson is making the most of his time in Paris.

The singer missed selection in the 41-member Australian swim team, but is in France supporting his partner, swimming sensation Emma McKeon.

He’s had a night on the town at the Moulin Rouge with his swimming mates Cameron Usher, Bowen Gough and Matt Ferraro.

Jasmine Bard, an Aussie in the famed entertainment ladies troupe, posted a picture of the group with her fellow dancing queens.

“So lovely to meet you guys,” Bard wrote on social media, accompanied by an Aussie flag.

McKeon won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay and has another relay event to come.

Meanwhile Paris was again VIP central with the most decorated gymnast in history, Simone Biles, attracting another star-studded crowd on Tuesday night.

In the stands to see Biles lead Team USA to a gold medal in the artistic gymnastics team final at Bercy Arena, were actor Nicole Kidman and singer Keith Urban with both of their daughters, tennis legend Serena Williams, actor Natalie Portman, billionaire Bill Gates, golf star Scottie Scheffler, French actor Juliette Binoche, TV personality Queen Latifah, director Spike Lee, Romanian gynmastics legend Nadia Comaneci and US swimming great Michael Phelps with his adorable baby.

Team USA finished well ahead of Italy, which won silver and Brazil took bronze.

Biles, returning to Olympic competition, has been one of the marquee stars with her qualification appearance already luring many big names, including Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, John Legend, Baz Luhrmann and Anna Wintour.

She is competing again on Thursday and vying for her ninth Olympic medal.

Elsewhere tennis great Boris Becker was spotted at the Japan v France basketball match, while Aussie tennis aces Lleyton Hewitt and Alex de Minaur were at the swimming in the crowd cheering on Kaylee McKeown to another gold medal.

Speaking to Paris Confidential the night before the gymnastics team final, Comaneci praised Biles and the team. “I don’t think anyone can challenge the US team,” she said at Omega House Her Time event. “Of course the USA is by far the best.”

Comaneci, the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, said being in the opening ceremony alongside Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Carl Lewis was historic and unique.

“I was honoured. I felt a lot of respect,’’ she said. “We said on the boat we will remember this for the rest of our lives because it was raining and felt like we were in Flashdance.”
