Dolphins star Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has been tipped to end form slump against partner Jaime Chapman’s Gold Coast Titans

Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf has backed his fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to reverse his form slump as the team searches for their first win of the season against his partner Jaime Chapman’s club.

Titans vs. Dolphins SuperCoach preview

Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf has faith loved-up fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is ready to fire and sink his partner’s club to snap Redcliffe’s losing streak.

The Titans are bracing for ‘Hammer Time’ at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday night when the Dolphins swim into the Gold Coast.

Queensland Origin flyer Tabuai-Fidow has come under criticism following a lacklustre start to the season.

The Dolphins’ strike weapon hasn’t scored a try in 2025 and didn’t register a run until the 24th minute of last week’s derby loss to the Broncos.

Pressure is mounting on first-year coach Woolf, but he believes Tabuai-Fidow is on the brink of exploding.

And what a sight it would be if he stuns the Titans, who are the club his partner and NRLW star Jaime Chapman plays for.

Chapman is expected to be in the grandstand at Robina, potentially with a torn allegiance.

Woolf said Tabuai-Fidow was working his way back into form and it wouldn’t be long before he whips out his trademark shark-fin try celebration.

“I thought he showed some real signs of that last week,” he said.

“He showed real signs of him moving around the ball and sniffing around for opportunities. They’re going to come up.

“He showed a lot more out of the backfield in terms of how he got to the ball and returned the footy.

“It’s up to us as a team to find him more opportunities.

“The whole team is a little down in (confidence). We need to own our own roles.

“If we do that really well then we’ll build confidence and get everyone into the game, including ‘Hammer’.”

Tabuai-Fidow scored 15 tries in each of his past two seasons for the Dolphins, highlighting his importance to Redcliffe.

He is at his best sniffing around the ruck looking for space and Titans coach Des Hasler has warned his team to be ready for a Hammer attack following four-straight losses.

“I’ve been there,” Hasler said after losing his first six games last season.

“It gets to that point where you’ve got to find a win and there’s that mentality.

“We’ll need to play well. That’s how tight the competition is.

“They’ve also got that flash of brilliance too.

“The fella at the back (Tabuai-Fidow) has been under the pump a little bit so you know how he’s going to respond.

“There’s two very capable halves (Isaiya Katoa and Kodi Nikorima) that challenge and take you on and we rate the nine (Jeremy Marshall-King) very highly.

“They’ll be challenging.”

Woolf has had a brutal initiation to the world of NRL coaching and succeeding Wayne Bennett.

But he maintains the Dolphins have the right plan to find success and is refusing to detour.

“We had a plan in the pre-season that we think will work for us and nothing’s changed,” he said.

“We can’t look at the results and throw everything out the window. It’s a good plan and we’ll stick to it and execute it.

“Once we start doing that we can build some confidence.

“It’s tough to win one game of footy and that’s shown for us but they’ve turned up on a Monday with a smile and there hasn’t been a game where we haven’t competed.

“That says to me we’re going to turn it around sooner rather than later.”
