As we head into the Easter break, let’s take a look back at how the 2024 season has unfolded to this point.
In the women’s competition, Mareeba United sits atop the ladder after recording two wins from four matches in the opening month, including a dominant half an hour in their last match fighting back from 2-1 down to win 5-2 against Stratford Dolphins.
Redlynch Strikers sit in second with two wins from two, while Edge Hill also remain undefeated with a single win after a host of postponements to start the season.
Last season’s champions Leichhardt FC are yet to play a match.
It’s a similar story in the men’s competition, with Mareeba United leading the way with two wins from three matches to sit three points clear at the top.
Marlin Coast sit in second, also undefeated with a win and draw from their two matches so far.
Edge Hill United are one win from one match in third, while last season’s champions Leichhardt FC occupy sixth with a draw in their only match so far against Marlin Coast Rangers.

Kappa Queensland Cup
The round four draws of the Kappa Queensland Cup have been confirmed for our remaining Far North and Gulf teams.
The winner of the Redlynch Strikers and Southside Comets will take on Leichhardt FC in the men’s draw and Southside Comets will face Edge Hill United in the women’s competition.
FQPL South Coast
The FQPL competitions have exploded back to life with 3 rounds now complete heading into the Easter weekend break.
In the FQPL 3 South Coast Men, Alex Morrison’s Kingscliff are leading the way, level on points with 2023 grand finalists Robina City.
Morgan Saunders has been a key man for Kingscliff so far this season.
The 2023 FQPL 1 Men’s Player of the Year followed his former coach Morrison south and has already begun to repay the faith his manager has placed in him, netting a superb hat-trick against last year’s premiers Southport last weekend.
Elsewhere Connor Maguire pulled the strings and Matt Hilton applied the finishing touch as Burleigh Heads overcame Musgrave, while Riley Seath was influential for Gold Coast Knights as they overcame Runaway Bay.
In the women’s competition, Magic United sit atop the ladder on seven points, closely trailed by Palm Beach who are placed second with six points from two matches.
Evie Martschinke has been one of the form players for the league leaders and has been ably supported by forward Madi Sabados.
While it’s still early in the women’s season, the premiership race is already shaping up to be a close and exciting battle.
In FQPL 4 South Coast Men’s action, Pimpama City and Mudgeeraba both sit on seven points, with last year’s double winners Broadbeach United hovering closely behind on six points having played one less game than their rivals.
The FQPL breaks for Easter, and returns on the weekend starting on April 5, with plenty of box office matches ahead.

FQPL Whitsunday Coast
Round 4 of the FQPL Whitsunday Coast delivered an intriguing weekend of football action.
In a highly anticipated FQPL men’s showdown, Magpies FC enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win over Mackay Rangers.
Meanwhile, reigning champions Whitsunday United cruised to a comfortable victory over City Brothers.
In the FQPL women’s competition, Mackay Lions dominated with a resounding 7-1 win against City Brothers, led by Takoda Stephens’ impressive hat-trick.
Dolphins FC secured a solid 2-0 victory over Mackay Wanderers, courtesy of Elli Corr’s double.

The season so far
As the Easter break approaches, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the FQPL Whitsunday Coast league across the first four rounds.
Weather conditions influenced the first three rounds of fixtures, yet the competition has remained entertaining, with a total of 88 goals scored across both the men’s and women’s competitions
After the first four rounds, some top performers have emerged with Angus McKenzie of Mackay Rangers Football Club, Jake Smith representing Mackay Lions and Aiden Partridge of Mackay Wanderers Football Club showcasing their skills in the men’s competition.
In the women’s competition, Georgia Schick from Country United Football Club, Macy Rudken of City Brothers Football Club, and Jessica Williams from Whitsunday United FC are in top form.
Additionally, Akema Greenaway of Whitsunday United and Takoda Stephens of Mackay Lions SC have shown their scoring power early in the season, each securing their first hat-tricks in the last two rounds.
A standout moment of the season so far was the Round 3 rematch of the FQPL Men’s grand finale, where Magpies FC claimed a resounding 5-0 victory over reigning champions, Whitsunday United.
Looking ahead, round 5 of the FQPL Whitsunday Coast season is set to resume on the weekend of April 12.
KAPPA Queensland Cup
The round four draws of the Kappa Queensland Cup have been confirmed for our remaining Whitsunday Coast teams with Dolphins FC taking on Mackay Lions in the women’s competition and Mackay Rangers up against Magpies FC in the men’s competition.
FQPL Sunshine Coast
As we head into the Easter break for our FQPL competitions, let’s take a look back at how the season has unfolded to this point.
In the women’s competition reigning premiers and champions Beerwah Glasshouse and Maroochydore FC started their campaigns with opening round victories and Noosa Lions started with a narrow victory over Gympie United in a nine goal thriller.
Round two and three saw Maroochydore and Noosa continue their strong early season form as Gympie United showed great signs but fell short against Woombye Snakes and Kawana FC. Woombye recorded back-to-back wins to move into third place.
Last weekend, Gympie’s first win of the season moved them into fourth as Beerwah Glasshouse fell out of the top four with two games in hand.
The men's’s season started with a shock as Nambour Yandina upset reigning premiers Caloundra FC in the opening round.
Buderim Wanderers and Noosa Lions were the two remaining unbeaten teams after round four, with Buderim beating the previously unbeaten Nambour Yandina in round four, as the Woombye Snakes moved into the top four. Maroochydore FC’s second win of the season in round five moved them into sixth place at the break.

A-Leagues debut
Congratulations to our very own Vicky Clark on her first A-Leagues Women appointment over the weekend.
Clark’s refereeing journey began on the Sunshine Coast and has spanned 11 seasons, culminating in her maiden A-Leagues appearance alongside fellow Queenslanders Misuk Park and FQ Referee Academy graduate Page Malau-Aduli.

FQPL Darling Downs
Both the men’s and women’s FQPL competitions head into a short break this weekend for Easter after an electric start to the season.
West Wanderers lead the way in the men’s competition, with star forward Jok Ayii scoring six goals in the first four games to lead the golden boot rankings.
Trailing closely behind are St Albans on seven points, and Rockville Rovers on six points with a game in hand.
One of the closest leagues in the whole state last year, the men’s competition looks to be as strong as ever and will continue to thrill throughout the year.
In the women’s competition, Willowburn White, Highfields Green and USQFC all sit on 12 points at the top of the tree, each recording four wins from four games to start the season.
It’s been a goalfest for both Willowburn White and Highfields Green, with Willowburn’s Penny Dukes and Courtney Morris each having scored six so far this season, while Chloe Clarke and Emily Prestipino have both chipped in with four each themselves.
Bridget Peden has been the undoubted star for Highfields Green, scoring a staggering 11 goals from her first four outings of the season.
She’s been ably supported by Ameleah-Paige Miller with seven goals of her own, forming a fearsome strike partnership to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

Round 4 of the FQPL Northern season was a goal scoring frenzy with 29 goals across six matches.
In the women’s division, the highly anticipated top-three clash between MA Olympic and Riverway JCU didn’t pan out as expected for Riverway JCU.
Meanwhile, in the showdown between Saint Eagles Souths and Brothers Townsville, Stephanie Luyt stole the spotlight with an incredible hat-trick performance, securing a crucial victory for Brothers Townsville.
In the men’s competition, the battle between MA Olympic and current ladder leaders Riverway JCU kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Despite trailing 2-1, MA Olympic staged a remarkable comeback with two late goals in the 90th and 92nd minutes, clinching a sensational 3-2 win.

The season so far
Townsville Brothers and MA Olympic Women have kicked off the season in spectacular fashion with a perfect record of three wins from three matches each.
On the men’s side, MA Olympic has also made an impressive start with three wins out of three.
In round 2, we witnessed a major upset as Burdekin FC stunned reigning champions Brothers Townsville with a 5-3 victory.
However, Brothers Townsville quickly rebounded, securing wins in their last two matches.
Some standout players have emerged after Round 4, including Joshua Bowman from Brothers Townsville, David Payne representing Saints Eagles South, and Zach Knight of Riverway JCU.
In the FQPL women’s competition, Monika Anderson and Georgia Allen from MA Olympic, along with Kylie Bostick from Riverway JCU, have been standout performers.
Stephanie Luyt of Brothers Townsville has been exceptional, netting seven goals in Round 2 and adding three more in Round 4.
Meanwhile, Monika Anderson of MA Olympic showcased her scoring accuracy with three goals in Round 3.
Page Malau-Aduli has had an outstanding beginning to the 2024 season, excelling not only as a player for MA Olympic but also making waves as a match official.
On March 16, she had the honour of joining experienced official Casey Reibelt in the Liberty A-Leagues, marking her fourth Liberty A-League appointment.
Additionally, she received a call-up for the Liberty A-League Women’s match over the weekend, further strengthening her status as a rising talent in Queensland officiating.
