Looking to strike back

Devil’s Temptation out to reward his supporters in return to home track.

Devil's Temptation and apprentice Adin Thompson cruise to an easy win at Ipswich in October.

RACING : Consistent Toowoomba gelding Devil’s Temptation will chase a well-deserved return to the winner’s list when he returns to home surroundings at Clifford Park tomorrow.

Devil’s Temptation is looking to break a run of second placings since his latest Ipswich victory when he steps out in the Barry Squair QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1050m) for trainers Tony and Maddy Sears.

Tomorrow’s seven-race card coincides with Toowoomba Turf Club’s Ambassador Travel member’s appreciation day.

Devil’s Temptation scored on debut at Eagle Farm in April and has had one home-track run for a second behind Say Haya in October.

His latest second placings have been behind promising gallopers Je Suis Belle and Usmanov, and Maddy hopes he has found the right race and company to find his way back to the winner’s stall.

“He’s very consistent and has run into a couple of really smart ones at his last couple of starts,” Maddy said.

“We heard before the race last start at the Gold Coast that Toby Edmonds had a good opinion of Usmanov, and it was a bit too good on the day.

“This race on Saturday mightn’t be as strong, but he’s got plenty of weight with 59kg.

“Hopefully the 3kg claim and an inside draw can help offset that.

“He’s itching to break through with another win and we’re hoping he can get the job done Saturday.”

Toughest for Devil’s Temptation to beat looks to include consistent Clifford Park filly Kasita for trainer Tony Webb.

Toowoomba four-year-old For My Annie will look to keep his unbeaten record intact for the Lindsay Hatch stable when he steps to the 1200-metre journey of tomorrow’s Murray Arthur Class 3 Plate.

For My Annie scored on debut at Clifford Park in October before downing impressive last-start Gatton winner Deep Melody in a Class 1 Plate (1000m) here three weeks ago.

# TOOWOOMBA trainer Charlotte White and jockey Bubba Tilley added to their Listed Doomben victory last Saturday with Spurcraft when they teamed to score with stable newcomer Our Top Shelf on Wednesday’s Bunya Park card.

Tilley dominated the seven-race card with a winning treble.

# COUNTRY racing tomorrow includes a five-race Esk card and a five-event Chinchilla Race Club meeting highlighted by the Procrew Chinchilla Cup over 1400 metres.
