Queensland Fiji under-16 girls have opened the door for a potential late run at the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival grand final.
After a mixed day on the fields, the Fiji side closed out Saturday’s action with a shock win over rivals Nations United NQ to finish the day with a 2-1 record in the group stages.
The win closed out a big day of action on field five which featured eight games across a disrupted day.

They Fiji side will need to win their final round game on Sunday to remain in the hunt for a grand final berth, but will take plenty of confidence out of their big win on field four.
The Fiji side squeezed its way past rivals Nations United with tries to Abuk Tina Gaw and Lauren Martin highlighting the gritty 12-0 win.
It was a strong bounce back game for the Fiji side who had earlier lost to Queensland Barbarians 19-12 on the same field.
A hat trick to Kiwis flyer Kiahn Ferris has helped the Under-16 boys build nicely into the finals after they downed rivals Queensland South Africa 32-5.

The Kiwis were previously undefeated heading into the contest and shwoed no signs of slowing down with a six-try haul.
Queensland Kiwis Under-12s also picked up a solid win on field four, beating out Queensland Barbarians 12-0, while the Kiwis Under-10 side rollicked home to a 32-0 win over Niue.

The race to finals is well and truly alive as the action at the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival heats up on Saturday.
The tournament, which kicked off on Friday, has already been full of terrific tries, huge hits and memorable individual moments.
That will only get bigger on day two of the festival as the attention turns to the finals placings in each division.

The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival will play host to tournament newcomers Queensland Indigenous and Pasifika, Nations United North Queensland and Territorian raiders All Nations Rugby NT.
Meanwhile tournament regulars Queensland Kiwi, AU Superstars and Gold Coast Tonga have expanded their efforts across most ages and divisions.
