Carter Ford, you freak.

The St Brendan’s College front rower, and son of the late Queensland Origin champion Carl Webb, is quickly amassing a highlight reel to be envied in the Dolphins Cup.

The barnstorming front rower was at the centre of another brilliant St Brendan’s College win, scoring a double as the side extended its unbeaten start to the competition with a 26-4 win over Emmaus College.

But it was the way in which he scored one of those tries, outstripping his rivals one play after a kick-off which will go down in Schoolboys Cup folklore.

The front rower, who was a dominant part of Capricornia’s run to the schoolboys state championships semi-finals, took the ball two men off the ruck before running around the entire Emmaus side and cutting back on the inside of rival fullback Harri Meilland to score under the sticks.

It was a play that showcased the full range of his athletic ability, and backed up his impressive first half try when he supported exciting dummy-half Braelen Marsh through the middle of the field.

While Emmaus knew the task at hand, and showed up to compete across the opening 15 minutes, they struggled to keep up with the size of power of the St Brendan’s pack.

While Marsh and Ford were clear standouts, St Brendan’s backrower Harrison Hill and returning skipper Simon Green deserve praise for the way they ran hard all game and constantly put pressure on the Emmaus defensive line.

Emmaus did manage a late consolation try through the hard work of halfback Will McLaughlin, but by that stage the damage had been done by the hard-running St Brendan’s College side.

St Brendan’s had earlier made short work of Emmaus College in the Dolphins Challenge match, scoring off the opening set of the game to set up a domiannt 34-10 win.

Marsh, the son of former Parramatta Eels and NZ Warriors veteran PJ Marsh, was impressive in the school’s big opening round win setting up two tries and scoring one of his own.

With one eye solidly trained on their Confraternity Cup title defence, St Brendan’s are expected to take it easy on their playing group in the early rounds.

“We will have three tough games leading into (the Confraternity Cup), we will more than likely rest a few of our guys,” St Brendan’s head of sport Brendan Caplick said.

“The beauty of the Dolphins Cup is that you only have to win two games and you are playing in the semi-finals. We will use (these rounds) a little bit to get a feel for things in our squad leading into Confro.

“We know Emmaus is going to be tough, really every game is going to be tough.”
