Football NSW Thunder veteran Grant Lynch has emphatically kicked off his National Futsal Championships campaign with four stunning goals in his opening match.

His sizeable contribution was the catalyst behind Thunder’s powerhouse 7-1 take down of Football Victoria Navy in their first Open Men’s Pool A assignment.

Lynch was simply unstoppable as he peppered the net with pinpoint accuracy. A brace to Jordan Guerreiro and another goal to Malik Chamseddine completed the rout for the defending champions.

The star-studded side will be aiming to go back-to-back following a dominant 6-1 win in last year’s grand final.

In the other Pool A contest, Football Victoria Blues fought back from a one-goal halftime deficit against Football Queensland to square the ledger at the final whistle.

Atay Ibrahlm opened the scoring for Queensland before Ryan Jones dragged the Blues onto level terms.

Earlier, Football NSW Thunder women made an immediate impression with a convincing 3-0 victory against Football West in their Pool B encounter.

Pre-tournament jitters were quickly dispersed and replaced with an air of confidence as they kicked off their campaign in the best possible manner.

Football Victoria White and Football Queensland White played out a fiercely contested 1-all draw in the other Pool B contest.

Led by the irrepressive Tyler Garner, Football West turned on the afterburners in the second half for a 4-2 victory against Football Victoria Tigers in their afternoon Open Men’s Pool B contest.

With scores level at one apiece at halftime, Luke Ross hit home truly from a set piece to give the West Australians back the lead at eight minutes in the second half.

Some individual brilliance from Corey Sewell allowed the Tigers to level up soon after, but that was as close as they came.

And when an unmarked Charlie Garnham tapped into the net from the back post to make it 4-2 deep into the second period, it became a case of running down the clock.

Football NSW Lightning flexed their muscles with a 6-3 thrashing against an outclassed Capital Football in their Open Men’s Pool B match-up.

Leading narrowly 1-0 at halftime, the game took on a totally different perspective as they hammered home another six goals to Capital’s three.

Football NSW have prevailed 4-2 against Football Queensland Maroon after both teams doubled their scores respectively in the back half of their Open Women’s Pool A match.

In the other contest from that pool, Northern NSW Football were unable to bridge a 0-3 halftime deficit despite pulling one back in the second half against Football Victoria Navy.

Football Queensland kicked off their nationals campaign with a solid 4-1 victory against Football NSW Lightning in their under-16 boys encounter.

But their impressive win was not in the same stratosphere to that of Football NSW Thunder, who handed out a 9-0 thumping to Football Northern NSW in the same age group.
