SPEEDWAY : It was no real surprise when Steven Lines the current World Series Sprintcar Champion dominated the Sprintcar feature race on Saturday night at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway.

Lines proved to be a class above the rest as he comfortably led the 30-lap event from green to checkered.

Bryan Mann finished in second for his third consecutive podium, while Danny Reidy crossed the line in third.

Andrew Scheuerle and Kevin Titman rounded out the top five, with Titman managing to pass on the low line, Brent Kratzmann, in the final two laps of the race to earn a top five result.

He started back in position 12 and was the biggest mover in Saturday night’s feature race.

Cody Maroske crossed the line in sixth ahead of Brent Kratzmann, Allan Woods, Nick Whell, Ryan McNamara, Anthony Lambert, and David Whell.

The Mod Lites put on some of the best racing of the night in round six of the Campbells Truck and Bobcat Series.

Klinton Hancey won the feature race from Toowoomba’s Scott Lehfeldt and Dan Lewis.

Toowoomba’s Rodney Pammenter and Nathan Politch finished 5th and 6th with Dalby’s Terry Leerentveld 7th.

However, the three are on the top of the series points ladder after six rounds of racing with Politch still leading the series from Pammenter and Leerentveld.

Lehfeldt, who has been working in Townsville, flew home on Friday for his daughter’s graduation and was content to be a spectator on Saturday night, until a phone call early Saturday morning from Sean Rose the car owner.

Rose invited Lehfeldt to sit in for a the for the ill Australian champion Kyle Honour.

“Sean said Kyle is sick and since your home would you like to drive the car tonight,” Lehfeldt said.

The opportunity produced a good result for a second and first in the heats and a second-place finish in the feature.

Racing at Toowoomba Speedway now goes into a Festive rest period before returning on January 6 when World Series Sprintcars return to the Charlton circuit.

The Queensland Modifield Sedans title will be run at the track on January 17 and 18.
