Rain delays play after Kennedy runs hot

Queenland PGA play suspended under wet City Golf Club skies.

UPDATE: Play in the 2020 Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship at City Golf Club has been suspended after heavy midday rain left parts of the course temporarily unplayable.

Earlier Brad Kennedy roared to an early clubhouse lead after firing a nine-under-par round of 61.

Warwick pro Sam Eaves sits second at -5 with Stephen Allen and Denzel Ieremia on -4.

EARLIER: Grey skies greeted early players in the early hours as play in the 2020 Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship got underway this morning at City Golf Club.

A field of 156 players will vie for $150,000 prize money over the next four days as Sunshine Coast professional Daniel Nisbet bids to defend his 2019 players.

Misty conditions, but no rain, set the scene as morning groups began their first rounds from 6.45.

2013 Queensland PGA champion Brad Kennedy is the early pace setter after racing to six-under-par after his opening 15 holes.

Warwick professional Sam Eaves is also enjoying a bright championship start and shares second place alongside Stephen Allen after 15 holes at -4.

Play continues throughout the day.

Spectator admission is free with City Golf Club facilities open to the public.
