Trainer Mitchell Beer has two good chances at Newcastle on Saturday … but he can be forgiven if his primary focus is on Rosehill where he has three runners in the $500,000 Four Pillars Midway.

Beer saddles up Order To Charge and Brazil at the Hunter Valley track while he has Apollo Mission, This Is The Moment and Artful Persuasion in town.

To have three runners in the Four Pillars is a great achievement for Beer who only recently celebrated the first anniversary of his Kembla base after previously training at Albury.

“To get a runner into the Four Pillars was something we hoped to have in our first year at Kembla but to have three is bloody terrific,” said Beer.

“Even though this is a restricted race, it is still hard to get them right at the right time, have them in good form and have the right rating.

“Between the three of them, out of their last nine starts, they have won seven races.”

Apollo Mission was returning from a let-up when beaten less than two lengths by Alabama State in a Midway at Rosehill on October 12.

Prior to that, he resumed from a spell with impressive back-to-back wins at Kembla.

“Of my three, two have drawn really well and I’m not too disappointed with Apollo Mission drawing wide. I’d rather draw barrier 18 than three or four with him,” Beer said.

“He gets well back and will love a hot tempo.

“It was a nice effort last start off a gap between runs and a trial. He wasn’t at his top knowing he would be peaking for this.

“I think he will improve a couple of lengths off that run which has him well in the mix.”

This Is The Moment is in sterling form winning three of his last four while he had excuses when down the track behind State Of America in a Midway at Randwick two starts back.

“That was a nightmare. He got caught deep and had every right to finish even further back,” he said.

“Outside of that run, his form is pretty consistent.

“He gets Kerrin McEvoy and a low draw so you can’t ask for much more.”

Artful Persuasion is coming off two strong wins at Kembla while his form leading up to those was very good including two close seconds behind Fugitiva and After Match.

“Forget the run he hit a heavy track at Kembla where never went a yard,” he said.

“Outside of that, he has been building nicely and his last two wins have been dominant. He really put them away.

“He’ll get a lovely run behind the speed and I think he is right in the mix.”

Beer’s is confident his Newcastle-bound pair will also acquit themselves very well.

Order To Charge is coming off a nose second at Goulburn and looks suited stepping up to 1900m in the Benchmark 64 Handicap.

“We gave him a little freshen-up and he has come back well,” said Beer.

“His run at Goulburn was terrific, he likes a little gap between runs and he has won at Newcastle with Mitch Stapleford aboard.

“I like him and think he’s a good each-way chance.”

Brazil was an impressive winner at Kembla three weeks ago and looks hard to beat in the Class 1 Handicap (1600m).

“He’s my best chance for the weekend. I think he will win,” Beer said.

“We haven’t had him long but has come back this preparation as a real racehorse.

“I love the way he put them away the other day.

“I think he will get out to 2000m and develop into a really nice Country Cups horse.”
