News Corp form analyst Brad Waters looks at Wednesday’s meeting at Sandown.
BEST BET
THAMES (Race 5 No.10 – $4.60)
Thames didn’t have much luck when close-up fresh at Pakenham last month. She takes on older horses but should be harder to hold out.
NEXT BEST
PUGLIA (Race 1 No.8 – $3.90)
The Archie Alexander-trained filly returns after three solid runs in the spring. She’s had more time to develop and has drawn well.
HALF YOURS (Race 4 No.1 – $7.50)
Tony and Calvin McEvoy have taken over the training of this gelding. He improved to win a Ballarat trial recently and should go well first-up.
VALUE BET
IN HER EYES (Race 6 No.3 – $51)
In Her Eyes had little luck when not disgraced at The Valley first-up. Rising in trip and getting to the bigger Sandown track will aid improvement.
THE JOCKEY
Jockey Jamie Melham heads to Sandown for six rides on Wednesday.
DEEP JOY (Race 2 No.10 – $7.50), SPEAK (Race 3 No.5 – $4.40), THAMES (Race 5 No.10 – $4.60), HEAVENLY SHADES (Race 6 No.13 – $4.40), KHOR (Race 7 No.3 – $10), LAVALIER (Race 8 No.17 – $6.50).
