Herman set for his next China challenge

Toowoomba heavyweight to tackle tough South African.

BOXING : Toowoomba heavyweight Herman Ene-Purcell is out to shore up his international credentials when he returns to the ring in China this week.

Ene-Purcell will fight on Chinese soil for a third time when he faces South African Joshua Pretorious on Friday night.

Ene-Purcell - rated third in Australian heavyweight rankings - is looking for his 17th career win in 25 bouts.

Pretorious's pro record stands at six wins - five by knockout - and four losses.

At his latest bout the 26-year-old South African scored a knockout victory over Alick Gogoda in Empangeni.

Ene-Purcell's trainer-manager Brendon Smith said the bout provides the Australian heavyweight title aspirant with another opportunity to boost his international profile.

"Herman has fought in front of 18, l000 people there previously," Smith said.

"He's very popular in China where we have a great association with promoter Liu Gang."

# Ene-Purcell's fellow TGW & Smithy's Gym team member Billy Holland meanwhile continues his entry into the pro ranks tonight in Brisbane where he fights on the Jeff Horn verses Michael Zerafa rematch undercard.

Holland lines up against Ben Horn in his second professional bout.
