SPEEDWAY : The wheel of fortune has spun 180 degrees for Toowoomba driver Tim Harris who has rebounded from a costly race wipe-out to be top of the pile.

Harris, who races in partnership with brother Ryan, was back at speedway’s square one last October after their Wingless Sprintcar was written off in a spectacular Archerfield rollover in the first race of the new season.

But months of hard work and rebuilding have been rewarded in spades for the pair with Tim racing to victory at Archerfield last Saturday in what was his first A Main success since entering the sport several seasons ago.

Tim is hoping the turnaround in fortunes and new-found car speed can now boost the team’s prospects at looming feature meetings.

“Last Saturday was only our second race back since the rebuild, so it’s pretty exciting,” Tim said yesterday.

“That was my first A Main win ever so it’s a good way to start the year.

“We carried over some parts from the old car, about 50 per cent roughly, and the other 50 per cent are new versions of the old stuff.

“I was fairly cautious getting back into but we’ve learnt a lot along the way and it feels like we’ve got a good car at the moment.

“A lot of people have helped get us going again with things like parts and it was good to get the win on Saturday as a way of repaying them.

“It’s a good time to have the car going well.

“The state titles are coming up at Archerfield in March with a lot of good interstate drivers competing and the Easter Trail Series at Toowoomba and Archerfield is another event we’re also targeting.”
