GOLF: Gold Coast professional Brad Kennedy will continue his impressive push for a second Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship when third round play gets underway this morning from 10.45.
A total of 53 players remain in contention for the title after the tournament halfway cut was completed this morning.
Players returned to the course from 6.45 to complete their rain-disrupted Friday second rounds with those finishing on -2 or better making it through to weekend play.
Kennedy fired a four-under-par 66 to move to -13 for the tournament and a five-shot lead over Callan O’Reilly, David Bransdon and Damien Jordan, all on -8.
Gatton’s Andrew Dodt pulled off one the morning’s notable escape acts when he rattled off four successive birdies on holes 14, 15, 16 and 17 to move from +2 to -2 to keep his PGA hopes alive.
Dodt hits off the 10th tee at 12.05 this afternoon alongside Dalby amateur Lawry Flynn who also sits on -2.
Kennedy - the 2013 title winner- O’Reilly and Bransdon hit of the first tee at 12.05.
Spectator entrance to the tournament is free for the final two days, with clubhouse facilities available to the public.
