RACING : Trainer Michael Nolan is hoping recent stable addition Frascati Miss can take another positive step towards a long-range goal when she steps out at Clifford Park tomorrow night.

Frascati Miss has her second start for Nolan since arriving from the Chris Waller stable in the Naismith Truck Movers Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m).

The Jimmy Choux five-year-old resumed two week’s ago from a three month spell with a solid-finishing third behind Vibrato in a Clifford Park Benchmark 60 Handicap (1200m).

Frascati Miss was purchased as a middle-distance prospect and Nolan is hoping for another effort tomorrow similar to her promising first-up outing for the stable.

Her sole victory to date was over 1900 metres at Gosford last November.

“We bought her as a tried horse from the Inglis Auction site,” Nolan said.

“We were keen to try and buy a well-bred mare with some staying potential around 1900 to 2000 metres and she fitted in with what we were looking for.

“She is a beautiful mare with nice bloodlines.

“Her mother is a half-sister to The Bostonian who won this year’s Stradbroke.

“She was a $200,000 yearling and we got her for $16,000 which we thought was the right price.

“We haven’t got high expectations for her.

“We had in mind maybe picking up an 1800 or 2000-metre race or two at Clifford Park.

“But having spoken to someone from the Waller stable they said she might even be capable of picking up a midweek city race.

“Her first-up run for us was terrific.

“She has no early pace and she’ll get back again on Saturday over 1300 metres.

“But we hope she can measure up again and keep progressing towards a 1600-metre race here in a couple of week’s time which is probably more to her liking.”

Nolan also saddles stablemates American Crown and the resuming Miss How Long in the Alemlube Class 1 Plate (1000m).

“We had to put Miss How Long out after she won a maiden first-up last preparation,” Nolan said.

“She’s had a lot of little things go wrong – not big problems, but she has been a bit frustrating.

“She has trialled nicely and hopefully will work up to longer distances but we’ve picked this race out as a starting point for her.”

# NON-TAB racing returns to Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club tomorrow afternoon where a five-race Bunya Park card gets underway at 1.30.
