FOOTBALL: The South West Queensland Thunder women will share the football spotlight today.
As part of Female Football Round, all three games will be live-streamed on Football Queensland's Facebook page and YouTube.
Brisbane Roar winger and former Thunder player Abbey Lloyd will be guest commentator when the Thunder host Gold Coast United at Gatton.
Thunder women's coach Scott Teakle expects his side to be tested by United.
"Gold Coast picked up Peninsula Power's coach from last season,” Teakle said.
"They also signed a number of Power players as well.
"They will be a competitive side and it will be a test for us.”
Thunder showed glimpses of their potential in their last round 4-1 loss to Logan Lightning.
Logan capitalised on a number of second half Thunder errors to win the match after the scores were locked at 1-1 at half-time.
"We will look at how we need to play against Gold Coast during training, particularly how we need to defend,” Teakle said.
"The positive is we created plenty of chances against Logan, so if we can tighten up our defence and finish those chances we'll be competitive.”
Olympic sized clash
The Thunder men travel to Brisbane to face traditional NPL powerhouses Olympic FC.
The team will be full of confidence after securing a 3-2 win over Brisbane City in their last match.
