RUGBY : The Fairholme College sports machine is “rucking and rolling”.

Another talented group of students have added to silverware to college’s cabinet with wins in the South West 7s Open and Under-15 divisions – their first in the competition.

“It (winning) was pretty amazing,” U15 co-captain Taleah Ackland said.

“The competition was really tough, we played against some really good teams, so we’re all very happy to have won it.”

The breakthrough was all the more special for the team with more than half the squad having never played rugby before and Rugby Sevens legend lending her support.

““We finished third last year so to be able to win this year – against an amazing Chinchilla team – is special,” co-captain Mia Rogers said,

“Our heart, belief and support of each other played a big part.

“And then we had (Olympic Rugby Sevens gold medallist) Emilee Cherry running water for us.

“She paved the way in our sport. She asked if she could run water in some of our games because she wanted to support us and offer help – that was amazing too.”
