HERMAN Ene-Purcell looks closer to a rematch with Paul Gallen after contact from the NRL star's manager.

Ene-Purcell and his trainer-manager Brendon Smith have offered Gallen $50,000 and a third of television revenue from the fight for a rematch in Toowoomba in January after the pair first fought in February last year.

The Toowoomba camp had been keen for a rematch ever since their first fight was stopped in the second round with Gallen picking up a TKO victory in his first professional bout.

Smith put up a $30,000 offer to Gallen late last week before upping it to $40,000 after the initial offer was knocked back.

That second offer was also declined prompting Smith to present the $50,000 and a share of television revenue deal.

That appears to have got the attention of Gallen's manager David Riolo, according to Smith.

"I had a very positive conversation with David Riolo this morning and I thank him for his professionalism with this one," Smith said.

"David told me Paul is keen to finalise details for a rematch so that's a very positive sign.

"Paul returns home from a family holiday tomorrow so with a bit of luck we can lock it in and make this one a reality.

"We have already sent David Riolo a contract worth $50,000 for Paul Gallen to sign. All we need now is a signature."

The proposed fight would take place in Toowoomba on January 29.

Gallen has built a 4-0 professional record around his NRL and representative rugby league commitments.

Ene-Purcell has a 7-4 professional record.
