Emma Jackson will fly the South West flag at the Australian Country Cricket Championships.

Making her senior representative debut, Jackson will line up alongside Jaimie-Lee Strang and Felicity Koch in the Queensland Country side.

Cricket has always been a part of Jackson’s life and the University of Queensland star said she was delighted to be called up for the first time.

“I was pretty excited, it is always nice to get in the team ... it makes it all worth it in the end” she said.

“This is the first time in the team and the first time I was allowed to trial.”

Despite being a new face, she will be in a familiar setting with the vast majority of the team playing in the Katherine Raymont Shield.

“Most of them play in the premier league in Queensland so it is good,” Jackson said.

“I play against them most weekends and we know each other’s game pretty well.”

With Queensland fielding a strong line-up this season, Jackson is eager to win the tournament and improve as a player.

“You don’t get better until you verse the good players and the high-performing athletes,” she said.

“I want to enjoy the experience but also hopefully win the competition, I reckon we have a good enough team to do it so we will give it a red-hot crack.”

Now into her fifth season with UQ, Jackson has been a key member at the top of the order in the last two years, scoring four 50s and one century.

However, she is still determined to further improve her game and sees the championships as the perfect platform for her to take her game to another level.

“It is good, I started off the year pretty well, I haven’t been scoring as many runs as I would like but hopefully that can change with this upcoming tournament,” Jackson said.
