Three new South West Queensland rugby stars are set to follow in the footsteps of one of Australian rugby’s greatest ever stars.
Roma’s Emilee Cherry first made a name for herself playing schoolgirl rugby sevens and now Anna Park, Amy Lorenz and Mia Byrnes are doing the same.
The star trio have been named in the inaugural Australian Schoolgirls Rugby Sevens touring team playing in New Zealand from December 13-15.
“It’s phenomenal achievement for these three girls,” The Glennie School’s Shayne Hayes, who is the team’s manager, said.
“It’s a real testament to the hard work and commitment of the girls and the quality of the programs they are involved in at the school, Darling Downs levels and beyond.
“All three girls are amazing people on and off the field.
“They’re determined and that country spirit really shines through.”
The Australian Schoolgirls will join a second Australian team in NZ in a rugby sevens competition against some of the world’s best squads.
