RACING : The movie Ride Like A Girl, depicting Australian jockey Michelle Payne’s rise to world stardom after her historic 2018 Melbourne Cup win aboard Prince Of Penzance has won wide acclaim.

It’s also won the heart of Toowoomba jockey Skye Bogenhuber who has found inspiration in the story of her colleagues success against the odds.

“I loved the movie and found it very inspiring,” Bogenhuber said.

“It’s really depicts well what girl jockeys have had to face and overcome to make it as far as they do.

“Michelle certainly had lots of hurdles to jump and I can really relate to her story.

“I’ve got even more admiration now for Michelle and what she has achieved after seeing the movie.

“It came along at a great time for me as well.

“I was working through my own problems.

“It gave me inspiration knowing she too had a head knock and was out for some time before kicking back to win the cup.

“Two of the movie songs really resonate with me now.

The words to Fight Like A Girl by Wilson and Amy Shark’s I Said Hi are really relatable.”
