CRICKET: Jack Wildermuth has put his name up in lights after a dazzling display for Australia A against India at the weekend.

The Toowoomba all-rounder went on a tear on the opening day at the SCG, taking three key wickets in the space of three overs to give him incredible figures of 3/13 from eight overs.

He took another scalp in the second innings, while Warwick’s Mark Steketee, who came in as an injury replacement for Harry Conway, took two wickets before himself leaving the field for medical attention.

It was Australia A’s second innings where Wildermuth (pictured) really made his mark, blasting 111 off 119 deliveries, including 15 boundaries.

WOOD’S MEMORABLE DEBUT

Former DDBBL player Jack Wood enjoyed a memorable debut in the Brisbane Heat’s loss to the Melbourne Stars.

Wood faced just three balls with the bat before he was run out, where a desperate slide knocked over the stumps in the process.

Thrown into the attack in the seventh over, Wood’s first ever delivery resulted in a wicket, with an errant Ben Dunk shot caught by Ben Laughlin.

His third over had a rough start, with Australian star Glenn Maxwell hitting him for a pair of sixes.

He bounced back though, bowling him with the fourth ball of the over to finish with figures of 2/28 from three overs.

WASHED OUT

Toowoomba’s Mitchell Shield game with Lockyer was abandoned.
