RUGBY: City-Country rivalries were reignited at Toowoomba’s Gold Park earlier this week.
For the first time since 2019 the Garden City played host to City versus Country junior representative matches with Country nearly completing a clean-sweep.
Despite the wet and muddy conditions the level of skill and play on show was exceptional.
“I was really impressed with the level of play on show,” Downs Rugby general manager Matthew Hammond said.
“The standard shown by all the players was exceptional.
“I thought our Darling Downs players lining up in the country teams were good, but I think the under-15 girls match deserve special praise.
“15-a-side representative rugby is being played for the first time this season and this game was amazing.”
Country won three of the four games played with a late penalty goal helping City snatch a late win in the under-16 boys match.
