BOXING : Emerging Toowoomba pro Chris Brackin is looking to turn some influential heads when he steps in for his first international bout on tonight’s TGW & Smithy Bring The Big Fights 24 card.
Brackin faces aggressive Indian Balkar Singh at Rumours International in pursuit of his eighth undefeated victory.
“Every fight gets harder and harder,” Brackin said at yesterday’s fight weigh-in.
“It puts more pressure on me and is making me just as hungry to keep the undefeated streak going.
“This will be my biggest challenge so far.
“I really wanted to step up and that’s exactly what we are doing.
“He’s a very handy opponent from India and it will bring the best out of me, I reckon.
“He means business and I mean business as well.
“If we meet in the middle, we’re going to clash and there’s going to be fireworks.
“Every fight I want to make a statement and this is the right fight to do it in.
“There will be plent of big names there and icons watching and if I want to get where I want to be this is a must-win for me.”
Brackin will donate purse money from tonight’s fight to assist the Stanthorpe drought and bushfire appeal in his former home region.
“The Stanthorpe region has been good to me during my whole pro career and this is just a way I can give back to them as thanks for their support,” Brackin said.
“Brendon Smith is also organising a bucket collection during my fight and anything people can donate towards the appeal will be a great help.”
