Fans go ‘fishing’ for Curry’s autograph

STEPH Curry may be a hard man to get a hold of, but these diehard fanatics managed to snag his signature in the most ingenious way.

IF you want to get an autograph from the 2015 MVP, creativity is key.

Arriving at training on Saturday (AEDT) at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia, Steph Curry was met by some overly eager fans.

Perched atop the players entrance to the stadium, the diehard Curry fanatics were unable to get close enough to hand the Golden State Warriors star a pen and paper and ask for his signature. But as the old saying goes, if there is a will, there is a way.

The two fans managed to mount a Curry jersey and a copy of Sports Illustrated to clipboards, attached them to long lengths of string, and lowered them down in front of the players entrance as Curry arrived.

The 27-year-old was clearly impressed with the effort, signing the pieces and even taking a video as the fans reeled their merchandise back up to the next level.

The Warriors posted a video of the fans “fishing for Curry” to YouTube.

The “fishing” effort has to be one of the most bizarre ways to get your favourite players’ autograph, but it was certainly effective. Sport could do with more fans like these fishermen.

Golden State took on the bottom of the eastern conference Philadelphia 76ers on the road on Sunday (AEDT). The Warriors extended their winning streak to 43-4, defeating the home side 108-105 after Philadelphia narrowly missed out of a last minute comeback.

Curry finished the game with 23 points, as well as five rebounds and six assists, while consistent performer Klay Thompson scored a game-high 32 points for the Warriors.
